Not the album — the artifact. Carnival was a Japan-only "Five Night Versions" 12", assembled by Toshiba EMI in 1982 and never issued this way anywhere else. It gathers the extended and night-version mixes: a "Rio" that drops the intro and comes in on galloping drums, a disco-strings "My Own Way" at a faster tempo, plus the Carnival remixes of "Hold Back the Rain" and "New Religion."
Collectors rate this pressing among the best-sounding versions of these mixes — a cleaner master and a stronger tracklist than the European counterparts.
